Ian Travis

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our fellow coach and great friend, Ian Travis. Ian had been bravely battling cancer for the last 18 months and lost his fight last night, the 11th September 2019. Ian was surrounded by his family and died peacefully at the Princess Alice Hospice, Esher. He is survived by his wife Sarah, and son Jacob. The Travis family are in our thoughts and prayers at this extremely difficult time. Ian had been coaching the U11 Panthers since August 2015. Amazingly Ian still managed to attend training sessions and games. We all have complete admiration and respect for him, a great example to all of us. Ian was born in 1971 in Penketh and raised in Liverpool. Ian played for Liverpool FC - Youth during his childhood and into his early 20s. He married his wife Sarah in 2005 and their son Jacob was born in 2009. Sarah and Jacob were at training tonight with the rest of the team, balloons were released in the Liverpool FC colours. On behalf of the Panthers Parents, Clare O’Dowd: “There are few people you meet through your lifetime apart from family that make a massive impact in your life and Ian you have definitely done that and for that we truly Thank You. One thing is for sure they certainly broke the mould when they made you, a real diamond who would light up the room by just being in it. A true gent with a heart of gold. You had a special way about you and that shone through in everything you did. We will hold so many happy memories in our hearts and you will never be forgotten. The Panthers will continue to make you proud and we will carry on the Panthers family as you would have wanted. Sadly things will never be the same and there will always be a void of a special someone missing “Our loveable Ian with his Scouser charm”, but we know you will be watching over us always. We will be forever grateful to have had you in our lives and we will miss you more than you will ever know. The best coach, manager and friend we could have wished for. Fly high Ian xxx”
