1v1 or 2v2

1v1 / 2v2 / 3v3

This game is a fantastic game! The kids love it. What is amazing if this game is depending on what your training session you can easily adapt this game to that! For example:
  • Defending - if the defender (i.e. the person who doesn't start with the ball) tackle the other player, they get 2 points if they score
  • Transition - If the tackling player is able to break away and score in 5 seconds, they get 2 goals
  • Attacking - the aim is to score a goal! Simple. 1 point for 1 goal

To play this game simply do the following:

Game Setup
  • Small pop up style goals is perfect for this game
  • Setup a pitch with goals at either end
  • Split the squad into 2 teams
  • One team is the attacking, the other is defending
  • Give each player from 1 squad a number (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4)
  • Kids stand behind opposite goal

Playing the game:
  • Coach calls a number from each team e.g. team 1 - player 2 v team 2 player 4
  • The players with those number step forward
  • The coach passes the ball to a player of their choice and the game become active
  • The aim is the two players are in a battle to score a goal
  • Each game lasts for 30 seconds unless!
  • Repeat again with the next 2 players e.g. player 1 vs player 3
  • If the ball goes out e.g. for a throw or after a shot, that match is over, kids go to the back of the queue - this will encourage the kids to keep the ball under control

Try this game with 2v2 (e.g. Team 1 - player 2 & 3 vs Team 2- player 1 & 2) and then with 3v3
