Our DNA

What makes our club a fun and enjoyable experience for players, coaches, referees, opposition and supporters

Our mission

Develop confident and capable team players who fall in love with the beautiful game.

Club vision

Sustainably provide safe, fun and development focused football for boys and girls of all abilities in our local community.

Committee pledge

As an FA Charter Standard club we pledge to help develop our coaches and referees to focus on players, minimise administration, provide access to facilities, access to coaching support, maximise parental support and open up football opportunities after MJFC.

We will strive to continually improve standards on and off the pitch.

The Players DNA

Players - We aim to develop players that “Play for fun and play for their team”, we want to help them to:
  • play with a smile and bring energy to training and matches whether we win, lose or draw
  • strive to be the best they can be
  • share their thoughts whilst be willing to do what’s right for their team
  • support and encourage team mates
  • become intelligent players, who make conscious playing decisions
  • respect team mates, volunteers, spectators and the opposition, be humble in winning and gracious in defeat

The Coaches

Picture
We aim to develop coaches that “coach for the players", taking pride
from helping their development”, we want to help them to:
  • put safety and fun first
  • plan player and team development, adapting approaches to training and matches to best accommodate each player’s needs
  • encourage player and parent input
  • measure success in player development not team results
  • Communicate calmly  with players, praise in public, feedback in private, challenge rather than instruct
  • communicate calmly on matchday and manage matches aligned to our player development aims
  • share experience and learning with in the club
  • do what’s right for player, team, opposition and club

The Referees

We aim to develop referees that “encourage flowing, fair and safe matches” and we want to help them:

  • make and communicate decisions with confidence
  • assertively handle those on the touchline
  • develop to oversee all age groups

Our Supporters

Picture
We aim to encourage supporters to get involved in the right way,
being supportive by:
  • staying at training and matches, if you need to leave then you must identify another staying adult to be responsible for your child, not the coach (obviously this changes as the kids get older and with girls football we must have females in attendance – discuss with your coach)
  • being punctual, time is precious for us all
  • asking how you can help
  • praising and encouraging from the sideline, showing respect to everyone on match day and ensuring your sideline communication is not conflicting with the coaching team
  • providing feedback, it’s valued, please just find the right time and place!

  • ……remember at the end of the day we’re all volunteers here for the kids

Style of play

We aim to:
  •  play creative football, comfortable in possession,
  • Be confident to attack
  • enthusiastic to defend as a team,
  • where our players can adapt in game to disrupt or respond to the opposition.

Running teams

Picture
We aim to create harmonious teams, so wherever possible players:

  • are offered at least half a game, ideally equal match time
  • are equally rested where squads are large
  • stay together as a team unless it’s best for them to move to a different team
  • noting that we will support our coaches to adapt training and playing methods when teams have players with wide-ranging abilities
